NUFC Transfer - Newcastle united

Newcastle have signed midfielder Bruno Guimarães from Lyon for £33m, plus add-ons.

The Brazilian international has put pen to paper on a deal until 2026, making him Newcastle’s third signing of the January transfer window.

The midfielder has completed his medical over the weekend while on international duty and signed the contract with Newcastle following smooth negotiations with Lyon.

Guimarães is expected to link up with his new manager and teammates this week as preparations begin for Newcastle’s next game against Everton, on February 8th.

Howe will certainly expect Guimarães to make an impact on his new side having fought off competition from Arsenal and Juventus to sign the highly thought of midfielder.

Best known for his slick passing, Guimarães can be utilised as a deep lying playmaker dictating the pace of game but also can work as a box-to-box midfielder. Guimarães is also no stranger to putting in a shift for his side, covering on average 13.5km per game.

Guimarães will wear the number 39.

Watch Yankuba Minteh score first goal for Feyenoord in 5-1 win on Sunday

Published

Newcastle United loanee Yankuba Minteh has scored his first competitive goal for Feyenoord, scoring in Sunday’s 5-1 win over FC Utrecht.

After starting in their 6-1 win over Almere City last weekend, the Gambian teenager came off the bench and scored in stoppage time, rounding the goalkeeper and finishing calmly to seal another convincing victory for the Dutch champions.

This rounds off a positive few weeks for the 19-year-old winger, who was our first summer signing after sealing a £6m move from Danish side Odense.

Last month he helped spark a comeback draw away to local rivals Sparta Rotterdam, before starting his first Eredivisie game against Almere. Now, he’s come off the bench and bagged his first goal for the club.
