Hollywood actor Will Ferrell sends message to Sunderland during the QPR game “tears of sorrow”

Will Ferrell, an American comedian, issued a joking caution to Sunderland prior to their matchup with QPR on Tuesday. Neil Critchley’s team travelled to the capital to face Tony Mowbray’s team, knowing that a victory would keep their play-off hopes alive.

Before the game, Ferrell tweeted to QPR’s official account: “Sunderland, ah the tears of sorrow you’re going to experience tonight. Dripping down your face into your mouth”

Over the previous week or two, Ferrell attended a lot of games in the UK. Before watching Wrexham play Wealdstone, the American was at the stadium enjoying a pre-game pint with supporters.

A Wrexham supporter told the BBC: “Basically me and two mates have just been in The Turf having a pint as usual, and then some phones and chanting went up. We went to leave The Turf, and then another Wrexham fan said ‘Come have a look, it’s Will Ferrell’.

“We laughed and didn’t believe it, walked over and it was the man himself. He was just having a pint before the game.”

They had previously seen Manchester City and was now at the Merseyside Derby. The co-owner of LAFC made light of taking over at the Etihad, saying: “I’m now your manager, things are going to go downhill from here.” A member of staff then asked how City would improve under him, Ferrell scoffed: “I’ll take you backwards.”

Ferrell’s statement would ultimately backfire as the Black Cats won the match three nil and responded in jest on Twitter with a picture of the actor observing with his head in his hands.
