Mason Greenwood Set to Depart Manchester United – Statement given!

Published

on

Mason Greenwood Manchester United

In the wake of the Crown Prosecution Service’s decision to drop its case against Mason Greenwood in February, Manchester United has revealed that the young forward will be departing the club following an internal investigation into allegations of attempted rape, controlling behaviour, and assault.

In a statement issued by the club, it was expressed that, “All parties involved, including Mason, acknowledge the challenges associated with his return to Manchester United. As a result, a mutual agreement has been reached that it would be most suitable for him to continue his career away from Old Trafford. We will now work collaboratively with Mason to facilitate this transition.”

Greenwood, aged 21, had been suspended from participating in Manchester United’s training and matches while an internal investigation was carried out subsequent to the discontinuation of the Crown Prosecution Service’s case against him.

The CPS stated in February that, “In this instance, a combination of key witnesses withdrawing their statements and new information coming to light resulted in the lack of a realistic prospect for a conviction.”

A product of Manchester United’s youth academy, Greenwood’s last appearance for the club was on January 22, 2022. He holds a single senior cap for England, having played in the Nations League encounter against Iceland in September 2020.

Manchester United’s Comprehensive Statement “Manchester United’s internal inquiry into the accusations made against Mason Greenwood has now been concluded.

“The process was initiated in February 2023, following the dismissal of all charges against Mason. Throughout this period, we have given careful consideration to the wishes, rights, and perspective of the alleged victim, as well as aligning with the values and standards of the club. We’ve endeavored to assemble as much context and information as possible, a task that involved gathering evidence not within the public domain, including insights from those with direct knowledge of the case.

“Based on the information at our disposal, it is our determination that the content posted online did not offer a comprehensive representation, and we find that Mason is not guilty of the offenses he was initially accused of. However, as Mason acknowledges publicly today, he did make errors for which he is taking responsibility.

“All parties involved, including Mason, are cognizant of the challenges tied to his potential reintegration into Manchester United. In light of this, it has been collectively decided that a move away from Old Trafford would be the most appropriate course of action. Our organization will now join forces with Mason to facilitate this transition.”

Full Statement from Mason Greenwood “I wish to start by acknowledging that people’s perceptions of me might be influenced by the content they’ve come across on social media. I understand that there might be a tendency to assume the worst.

“My upbringing ingrained in me the understanding that violence or abuse within any relationship is unjustifiable. The accusations made against me are false. In February, I was officially exonerated from all charges. Nevertheless, I fully admit to making missteps within my relationship, and I am prepared to accept my share of responsibility for the situations that led to the social media post.

“I am in the process of comprehending my role in setting a positive example as a professional footballer. My primary focus lies in fulfilling my duties as a father and being a dependable partner.

“The conclusion reached today is the result of extensive dialogue between Manchester United, my family, and myself. The most prudent resolution, for all parties concerned, is for me to continue my football journey away from Old Trafford, a decision intended to prevent any distraction for the club. My gratitude goes to Manchester United for the support they’ve shown me since I joined at the age of seven. A part of me will forever be connected to the club.

“I’m profoundly appreciative of my family and all my loved ones for their unwavering support. It’s now my responsibility to reciprocate the trust extended by those around me. I aspire to excel as a footballer and, more importantly, to be a responsible father, a better individual, and to leverage my talents in a positive manner on and off the field.”

An Open Letter to Manchester United Supporters from Richard Arnold Richard Arnold, the Chief Executive Officer of Manchester United, penned this message to the fans:

Dear Supporters,

With the conclusion and disclosure of the outcome of our internal examination into Mason Greenwood, I am committed to a transparent and forthright dialogue with you regarding the procedure and rationale underlying our decision.

This inquiry represents an internal assessment of a disciplinary nature, a process that normally unfolds privately between an employer and an employee. While this particular circumstance diverged from the norm due to the public nature of the allegations and Greenwood’s prominence, it was paramount that we adhere to proper protocol and, to the best of our abilities, circumvent any media commentary until I had come to a definitive verdict.

Upon the release of audio recordings and images online in January 2022, my initial response was one of shock and concern for the purported victim. Throughout this process, her well-being, preferences, and viewpoint have remained central, as have the values and standards of our club. While we promptly determined that Mason should be suspended pending investigation, we also remained conscious of our obligation to his well-being and the necessity of making decisions founded on comprehensive information. Until this February, the situation was under the jurisdiction of the police and the Crown Prosecution Service. It wasn’t until charges were dismissed that the club initiated discussions with Mason and other relevant parties.

Our examination sought to consolidate as much evidence as feasible to establish the facts and context. This wasn’t an expedient or straightforward undertaking, owing to various factors. It was essential that we upheld the rights and wishes of the purported victim. Additionally, our investigative authority was limited, necessitating cooperation from third parties. The timeline was also influenced by my aspiration to minimize any disruption to our men’s and women’s teams, along with our Lionesses. Admittedly, this approach allowed for speculation to flourish, yet the alternative would have compromised the integrity of our process or precipitated inopportune disruption.

While certain evidence remained inaccessible for reasons we respect, the evidence we were able to collect led us to the determination that Mason was not culpable for the alleged offenses. Legal constraints restrict my ability to disclose further information, including the ongoing right to anonymity for the purported victim. However, I can share certain details that might offer insight into the intricacies of this case:

• In April 2022, the purported victim requested the cessation of the police investigation. • We were provided with alternative explanations for the audio recording, which constituted a brief portion of a longer recording, and the online imagery. • The purported victim’s family engaged in the process and had the opportunity to review and correct our factual conclusions.

Last week, the media reported that a decision had been made to reintegrate Mason and that facets of a strategy for doing so had been leaked. Reintegration was among the numerous potential outcomes that were explored and mapped out over the preceding six months. I continued to consider various perspectives and factors up until the finalization of my decision.

While I am confident in Mason’s innocence regarding the charges he faced, he has taken ownership of the errors he committed. Additionally, I am conscious of the difficulties that would arise as he endeavors to rebuild his career and navigate the challenges of parenthood alongside his partner, all within the unforgiving spotlight of Manchester United. Furthermore, the circumstances of this case have engendered robust opinions, and it is my duty to minimize any potential distractions as we strive to forge unity within the club.

“We continue to have a good relationship with the football club, and understand this is an isolated incident and we thank the wider football community for their continued support of the Bradley Lowery Foundation.”

We were at the first Saudi International football match to be played at St James Park on the 8th September where Saudi Arabia played Costa Rica.

The match was controversial as normally home international games are played at their own country however it a sign of the strengthening relationship with Saudi Arabia and Newcastle united in a move that is beneficial for both parties with Newcastle United able to bring in more income and therefore more allowance for FFP as well as increasing a NUFC fanbase internationally and in Saudi.

At the event were Newcastle Sports Washing Group – as well as our usual speaking to fans before the game we spoke to two of them, the head of the organisation and then also we captured footage which saw a confrontation between NUFC fans and the sports washing group – we managed to get their response to what their ambitions were.

We would note this was a very small group and protest but were getting national coverage as Sky Sports and others were interviewing them. The Saudi fans that we spoke to either did not want to talk about the controversy or mentioned how its unfair that the spot light is in Saudi when there are so much wrongs all over the world from other countries. Statement released by family of five-year-old Layton Darwood

Statement released by family of five-year-old Layton Darwood
The heartbroken family of five-year-old Layton Darwood have issued a statement after a jury found banned driver Darren Jacques responsible for his death.
Following a six day trial at Newcastle Crown Court, Jacques, 42, of Penrith was convicted of causing death by driving while disqualified.
A statement issued by his mother Stephany on behalf of the family read: “We are devastated by what happened and miss Layton beyond words. He was a loving, happy little boy with his whole life ahead of him and our orst nightmare came true the day we lost him.
“Although some sort of justice has been served today it’s a very bitter sweet situation. It has taken a long, hard three years with many set-backs and challenges along the way.
“If it had not been for the determination of my mam and Northumbria Police we would not be here today, seeing justice be served for Layton.
“A common saying among police is ‘deeds not words’ and in this case the deeds of Sergeant Ray Lowery, Sergeant Russ Surrey and PC Greg Huntley have well outweighed all the words ever spoken.”
Our thoughts remain with Layton’s family at this incredibly difficult time. They’ve gone through something no one should ever have to go through.
This case has had a profound impact on everyone involved, including the officers and staff who have helped bring Jacques to justice, and it goes without saying that no one, especially a young child, should ever lose their life on our roads.
Jacques was released on bail and is due to be sentenced back at the same court on December 4.
