Outgoing transfers: Newcastle “can’t sell players”

With countless stars linked to Newcastle United this summer, the club will need to part with players to finance and make space for new signings. Few players will be keen to leave a club with huge ambitions and resources, and so this is not proving easy.
According to Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge, Newcastle United “can’t sell players” this transfer window. The club are apparently “desperate” to offload some of their squad as they bring new talent in.
Midfielder Isaac Hayden left Newcastle on a season-long loan to Norwich earlier in the month. Several of his teammates are likely to follow him out of St James’ Park this summer.
Left back Jamal Lewis is one of the players touted to move on. He has dropped down Howe’s list since Newcastle signed Matt Targett from Aston Villa, making his January loan permanent. After an injury, Lewis was left out of Newcastle’s 25 man squad in January. Earlier in the year Football Insider reported that he could leave for an £8 million fee.
Miguel Almiron is another potential departure who could be difficult to get rid of. His agent has made clear that Almiron wants to stay, and has a release clause in his contract of £60 million. The winger made 30 League appearances for the Magpies last season, scoring only once – a Goal-of-the-Month worldie against Crystal Palace. Once Newcastle’s record signing, the Paraguayan is likely to remain next season.
United captain Jamaal Lascelles has also been linked with an exit. In particular, the centre-back has been rumoured to be returning to former club Nottingham Forest. Newcastle are supposedly interested in signing Sven Botman or Nathan Ake in defence. This competition could free up space for Lascelles to leave. Slow movement on those transfers means a decision on Lascelles fate might have to wait.
Newcastle have also let go a number of academy graduates who failed to break into the first team. Oisin McEntee joined Walsall on a free, while Mohammed Sangare was released and returned to Accrington Stanley where he previously spent a loan spell. Morpeth born Jack Young has also made a loan at Wycombe Wanderers permanent.
Lewis Thompson had his say on which players Newcastle should let go here.

Watch Yankuba Minteh score first goal for Feyenoord in 5-1 win on Sunday

Newcastle United loanee Yankuba Minteh has scored his first competitive goal for Feyenoord, scoring in Sunday’s 5-1 win over FC Utrecht.
After starting in their 6-1 win over Almere City last weekend, the Gambian teenager came off the bench and scored in stoppage time, rounding the goalkeeper and finishing calmly to seal another convincing victory for the Dutch champions.
This rounds off a positive few weeks for the 19-year-old winger, who was our first summer signing after sealing a £6m move from Danish side Odense.
Last month he helped spark a comeback draw away to local rivals Sparta Rotterdam, before starting his first Eredivisie game against Almere. Now, he’s come off the bench and bagged his first goal for the club.
