With over two decades passing, some people are only just discovering the Yorkie ‘not for girls’ advert from 2002, and they can’t believe it.

That’s right, over 20 years have passed and younger generations are only just coming across the advert for Nestle’s thick milk chocolate bar, with mixed opinions on it.

Many can’t believe it made it onto TV, while others think the advert was ‘proper genius’ and ‘just a joke’. Either way, all would agree it probably wouldn’t go down so well today.

The Yorkie slogan in 2002 went as follows: “Five big chunks of masculine chocolate. Yorkie… it’s not for girls.”

The advert shows a woman disguising herself as a man to try to purchase a Yorkie bar from the shop.

Netflix have released a brand new film starring Gal Gadot, titled “Heart of Stone”. The American spy action thriller is centred around Rachel Stone, an intelligence operative who stands between her powerful global peacekeeping organization and the loss of its most valuable and dangerous asset.

A certain clip from the film has been going around Twitter recently though due to the costume of one of its characters.

During an intense chase scene where Rachel Stone (Gal Gadot) is fleeing from the pursuing gunmen hunting her down, one of the characters can be seen to be wearing none other than Middlesbrough’s home shirt from the 09/10 season!

One Twitter user wrote, “@Boro, how the hell did this happen? Sat watching the new @GalGadot film and a bloody Boro fan is trying to kill her!!!”

North East Updates and NCL Dates announce exciting new collaboration – Showmancing – an show that will be the first of its kind in the UK. Offering audiences an immersive new way to experience their favourite dating shows with a chance to take part and potentially find the one.

“Showmancing” is an exciting new collaboration between North East Updates and NCL Dates. The interactive live show will be the first of its kind in the UK, offering audiences an immersive new way to experience their favourite dating shows with a chance to take part and potentially find the one. Tickets are very limited so don’t delay and miss out. The event will take place on Sunday 3rd September from 6.30-9.00pm – so you can have a drink (or 5!) and be OK for work on Monday!

Hosted by Newcastle’s own funny-man Raul Kohli, an award-winning BBC star, the audience can watch and even take part in dating games from some of their favourite classic TV dating shows including:

• Take Me Oot – where one lucky singleton will have the chance to impress 20 people in the audience and has their pick of anyone still impressed at the end! You’ll have the opportunity to raise your hand to take part and the host will pick 20 of you.
• Blind(folded) Date – Groups of three will be picked from the audience (or in advance if you fill out the form below) to be sat on stage, blindfolded and introduced to a mystery singleton behind a screen. The mystery singleton will ask the trio a range of questions and will pick their favourite dater based on the answers.
• Real Life Swiping – like a dating app in real life, one lucky contestant (fill out the form below!) will be chosen to swipe through volunteers from the audience to narrow down to just three choices who will then be involved in the main game.

Other games/mini-games may include Mr & Mrs’s, Audience Knows Best, Who’s Secret is this and texting in your scandalous dating stories.

The event will take place in popular city centre venue Howlers (formerly Madame Koo) and hosted by popular Geordie comedian Raul Kohli, as featured on the BBC. Howlers (you know the late night venue with the ballpit!) is known for hosting large events of this scale, including the hugely popular Bonkers Ball. Drinks will be available to purchase throughout the night – with two options for seating – standard or group booth VIP booking if you’d like to sit with friends. Tickets are gendered so that we can tailor the event to the audience to give you the best possible experience.

About The Host – Raul Kohli

Raul Kohli has fast become one of the most captivating acts in UK comedy. As one of the few Asians to have grown up in the far north of England (Newcastle Upon Tyne) he’s blessed with a Worldview that upends ethnicity, culture and class.
