Smash Space opened to the public in July 2021 bringing the first rage room to Newcastle.

After seeing ‘rage rooms’ all over the UK, Andy Reynolds launched Smash Space, ‘ a safe environment where people can let out their stresses of day to day life’.

A rage room, also referred to as a smash room, is a safe space where groups and individuals are free to vent their anger by destroying their surroundings.

Rooms contain items such as plates, televisions and glass bottles that customers can smash using the tools also supplied.

In addition, Smash Space also offer a smash lane, art launch and plan to launch an escape room.

In a statement they said: “We wanted to diversify the concept of Rage Rooms by including Smash Lanes and Art Launches so that there is something different for everyone to have a go at.

“Our premises is set up to optimise the experience for everyone.

“It provides an opportunity to participate in a new and fun activity into the ever-growing leisure market.

“The company is a small business with few employees which allows us to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and allows us to maintain our core values at all times.

“All of our staff are trained in personal safety and first aid to create a safe environment where people can relieve stress and anger.”

According to Vice, the first rage room was opened in Japan and have since spread rapidly across the globe.

Smash Space is open to the public between 4pm and 8pm Wednesday to Friday and 2pm to 8pm Saturday and Sunday.

Sessions cost £26.50 and last 15 minutes. Groups up to four people are welcomed.
