McDonald’s launches trial loyalty scheme

A trial McDonald’s loyalty scheme began recently in the North West, which, if successful, could be rolled out across the UK.

10 North West based restaurants introduced MyMcDonald’s Rewards on January 10.

Since then, customers have been able to earn points based on their purchases, and redeem them for menu items or donate to charity.

By the end of the month, a further 65 stores will welcome the McDonald’s loyalty scheme.

If it goes well, all of the UK could be benefiting from MyMcDonald’s Rewards by the end of 2022.

To earn points, customers must download the MyMcDonalds App.

Customers will collect 100 points for every £1 they spend, unlocking awards at 1,500, 2,500 and 4,000.

These points can then be redeemed through the loyalty scheme for selected menu items.

Smaller items such as a mini McFlurry or a small portion of chips can be traded for 1,500 points, or customers could upgrade to medium fries by waiting till they reach 2,500.

Customers can even hold off and treat themselves to a Big Mac for 4,000 points.

A full list of which menu items can be redeemed for specific points can be found here.

Alternatively, McDonalds is offering the chance to donate to BBC Children in Need instead.

Customers can exchange their points for £1.50, £2.50 or £4.

Michelle Graham-Clare, SVP and Chief Marketing Officer, McDonald’s UK and Ireland said: “We’re incredibly excited to trial the MyMcDonald’s Rewards scheme in the UK.

As well as rewarding our customers with our iconic menu items, we’re delighted to give customers the option of donating points to the brilliant BBC Children in Need, money which we know will make an incredible difference to the lives of many thousands of young people.

We can’t wait to hear what our customers in the North West make of the scheme and hope to be able to roll it out further later this year.”

McDonald’s launches wedding catering packages for just £185

Published

If you’re planning a wedding and you’re on a tight budget or you just love a good Maccies, you’ll be pleased to hear that McDonald’s is now offering wedding packages.

The fast food giant is known for changing its menu but this time it has made a rather huge historic change to its menu by launching wedding packages for £185.

For under £200 couples can cater for guests at their wedding and save themselves a fortune.

The wedding package menu includes 100 chicken burgers, 100 boxes of Chicken McNuggets, and 100 cheeseburgers, as well as 100 chicken fingers. McDonald’s said: “Make wedding moments unforgettable.”

So far, the wedding package has been launched in Jakarta, Indonesia but if it proves successful, it could further rollout across other parts of the globe too.

Rizki Haryadi, from McDonald’s Indonesia, said: “There are other service options as well, where we can also provide food stalls at an additional cost.
“The wedding package is not for holding a wedding at a McD store , but only for food, such as catering with prices starting from £185 with a minimum purchase of 200 products.”

It’s not the only way Maccies has been getting in on the wedding action. In Hong Kong, couples can actually get married at McDonald’s restaurants. The official website reads: “Thinking about throwing a really special party for your wedding, engagement, anniversary or bridal shower? Think McDonald’s.

“Our Wedding Party packages have just everything you need, including unique venue decoration, customised games and special gifts for bride and groom and your guests.

“Everything will be taken care of by McDonald’s. All you need to do is to be there and enjoy the moment of your lifetime.”

If you’re a fan of the fast food then this could actually be the perfect venue for your big day.

The basic package costs £348, which includes venue hire. But if you want to go all out then for just over £1,000 you can upgrade to the deluxe Love Forever Party with two McDonald’s balloon wedding rings, a balloon bridal bouquet and a party MC.

Other add-ons include, tables decked with ‘Love you’ balloons, McDonald’s fries photo frames, seat covers and the Maccies version of a three-tier wedding cake — which is basically made up of boxes upon boxes of fresh hot McDonald’s apple pies.

Newcastle steak restaurant announces free lunch for NHS workers

Published

Gaucho will today be offering a free lunch to celebrate the NHS’s 75th anniversary.

The premium steak restaurant in Newcastle has announced that they will be hosting a free lunch for NHS workers.

Gaucho Newcastle, which is located on Market Street in the city centre, will be honouring the hard-working NHS staff by offering a free lunch to them today, to celebrate the NHS’s 75th anniversary.

The Argentinian restaurant will also be lighting up their restaurant in blue, as part of the NHS anniversary celebrations.

Gaucho’s across the UK will be inviting NHS workers to dine in their restaurants for free on Wednesday, July 5, including in their Newcastle location.

The free lunch will be from a special set menu, which will feature ceviche starters, carbon-neutral steaks and decadent desserts, showcasing regeneratively farmed British beef and other ethically sourced ingredients.

This is not the first time that Gaucho have supported NHS workers, as during the pandemic they provided 1,000 meals per week to them, and hosted a special gala named Gala NHS Dinner of Appreciation as a way to say thank you for their hard work during the Covid-19 outbreak.

Gaucho and M Restaurants, CEO and Founder, Martin Williams said: “At Gaucho, we are delighted to celebrate NHS workers with this gesture. Restaurants, when at their best, are an integral part of the community and we are proud to support our amazing NHS heroes and hope other restaurants will follow suit to do the same.”

NHS workers can enjoy a free lunch courtesy of Gaucho today, from 12pm until 6.30pm. To redeem the offer, simply present your NHS ID badge upon arrival.
